Call for Visual Artist
Deadline Tuesday, November 18, 2008
Mayworks Festival contracts a visual artist every year to create a 'signature' image that is reproduced on all the publicity materials -- poster, pamphlet, program guide, website -- for the Festival. This image is highly visible, and reflects programming for the upcoming Festival. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Festival Coordinator and committee members to develop the image concept.
Mayworks Festival of Working People and the Arts is a multi-disciplinary labour arts festival that celebrates working class culture. Founded in 1986 by the Labour Arts Media Committee of the Toronto and York Region Labour Council, Mayworks is Canada's largest and oldest labour arts festival. The Festival was built on the premise that all workers share a common struggle for decent wages, healthy working conditions and a living culture. Mayworks' goal is to promote the interests of cultural workers and trade unionists, and to bring working-class culture from the margins of cultural activity onto centre stage.
All visual artists are invited to submit the following:
1) A curriculum vitae
2) Images of past work, to a maximum of 10 images, in any of these formats: digital images as PDF's or JPG's on a CD, print, or website link
3) List of images that includes title, medium, dimensions and date
The deadline for this is Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Please mail or drop off by 4 pm, no emails. If you would like any support material returned, please include a self addressed, stamped envelope. Mayworks is not responsible for returning support material without a self addressed stamped envelope. Please DO NOT submit original work.
Submit to:
