Auditions for Ballet Jorgen's Nutcracker at 5,6,7,8 Studios Oct. 4

Bengt Jörgen, Artistic Director and CEO of Ballet Jörgen Canada has announced the creation of a new full-length version of the holiday classic, set in Ontario at the turn of the last century.

On Saturday October 4, the company will visit Kingston to audition young dancers who will perform in December in this new production at the Grand Theatre.

The Group of Seven Nutcracker will be a portrait of Canada in the early 20th century, inspired by three famous Canadian paintings, Carmichael‘s Church and Houses at Bisset, Thomson‘s Snow in the Woods, and Fitzgerald‘s Trees and Wildflowers. Young dancers selected will play roles such as squirrels, loons, snowflakes, dragonflies and beavers, as well as several traditional Nutcracker children‘s roles.

Auditioners can be male or female, must be under 5‘7“ and between the ages of 8 and 18, with some dance experience. They must register for the audition, which will take place at 5, 6, 7,8 Dance Studio between 1:30-4:30 pm Oct. 4. To register, email [email protected]. Only confirmed registrants will receive auditions.

Rehearsals will begin Oct. 4 and 5 for performances scheduled on December 22nd and 23rd
