Deborah Washington with Street People

Our Projects - Kingston InSightS Project

Deborah Washington is working with the Street People, or Street Kids as they call themselves. Some of them are homeless, most are not. What they all have in common is panhandling. And so it's no surprise that the underlying theme of their work for this project has been their perspectives on panning, along with their experiences of life on the street and their relationship to their community.

The choice of this group was a natural one as Deborah has been fostering bonds of trust with them for the past few years. She was curious about their stories and had thought about making a video of their experiences. The presentation of this group's work is a video, however one made from the inside out, with their own images and in their own voice.
