I was born and raised in Vancouver where she studied visual art and english. I lived on Vancouver Island for several years before moving to Ontario. I now live in Kingston where I divide my time between painting and working as the managing editor of Arc Poetry Magazine out of Ottawa. I have exhibited my work in many group and solo shows throughout British Columbia, and have begun to show my work in Ontario over the last year through many outdoor shows and festivals, local group shows, at Canvas Gallery in Toronto and the Strata Gallery in Elora, Ontario. I am honoured to have my paintings hanging in many private homes and public collections. My subject preference has been non-representational for several decades. As a painter I am surrounded by influence. I am most interested in the vernacular of my own marks and following them. I am grateful for the liberty to do so. Andrew Csafordi

Andrew Csafordi is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art. His first career as a graphic designer, illustrator and co-owner of a successful design studio (www.fireengineinc.com) help set the stage for his artistic direction. He has consistently painted, sculpted and exhibited for over 30-years creating paintings and sculptures. For the past ten years, Andrew has devoted himself to contemporary encaustic sculptural painting, becoming known for his distinct, three-dimension sculptural style. With a passion for natural elements, Csafordi embeds wood, wire, stone, sand, fibre and more into his impressionist landscapes, reaching out “beyond the board” to stir the imagination. His luminous, textural and multi-dimensional paintings reach out and bring his viewers into organic dreamscapes, landscapes and mystical transformations unlike any other. Andrew currently showcases his work in select galleries, and a transformed century Barn Gallery on his small farm in the heart of beautiful Prince Edward County. He also offers encaustic painting workshops in his studio. Fee includes a workbook, all materials, light refreshments and snacks. Andrew and his artist wife, Tara Wilkinson (Love Nest Studio Gallery) are part of the Prince Edward County Arts Trail. Their galleries are open daily 10-5 (Closed Wed) April-Oct. I've written and illustrated two books for Children; "From Ant Astronaut to Zebra Zorro", an alphabet book with an emphasis on recogizing upper and lower case letters, and "Crybaby! A Comic Journey", a wordless surrealistic graphic novel following a traveller who, upon hearing a child in distress, sets off to give what aid he can. I've also illustrated "You are the Bee's Knees" by local author Morgan Wade. My website (www.thekitschen.net) features my Zoo series of paintings and artwork from my books and colouring books, available at businesses in downtown Kingston.
