The KAC welcomes new board members Michael Catlin, Virginia Clark, Susan Belyea, Joan Heaton and Darcie Kelly. We're excited to be adding new board members with such diverse backgrounds and skillsets to the team. Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting and contributed.
Special thanks also goes to outgoing board members Harry Symons, Margaret Hughes, Elspeth Murray, Larry House, Alison Migneault for all of their hard work and amazing contributions to the Kingston Arts Council.
Here at the Arts Council, we often get calls from people looking for an artist to fulfil some need - a commision, a gift, a school workshop, etc. We'd love to be able to refer everyone to the right people all the time, however until then, we're offering you a new way to get updates and find out first about community arts projects, commisions, calls for artists, etc.
Sign up to our Google Group below and set how often you'd like to recieve updates... All postings that come to us looking for people in an arts related field can now come directly to your inbox. In addition, you can post art related classifieds, calls for artists and proposals for collaborations. Please get in touch with the Arts Council office if you have any questions about this new group.

Two exciting projects are being floated around Kingston these days that would engage the community in the arts. We thought we would share the ideas with you.
Kingston College of Arts & Design
This proposal made by Karen Peperkorn, Program Co-Ordinator , Creative Arts Focus Program for the Limestone District School Board is in regard to a Centre for the Arts & Design to be housed in the basement of City Hall. Click here to read the proposal.
Creative Spaces for Children and Youth
The Arts Network for Children and Youth is a national organization dedicated improving the qualilty of life for children by involving them in artistic experiences. This is their Submission to the Government of Canada's Ministry of Finance Stimulus Package for the 2009 Federal Budget on creating creative community driven spaces for children. They also have a submission to the Government of Ontario's Standing Committee of Finance.
